It’s good when we get on for many reasons.

My last wedding of 2017.  It was actually on November 11th and had a remembrance theme of poppies, very apt and a nice touch.

Emma and Paul had their wedding at the gorgeous Lynford Hall near Thetford in Norfolk.

The weather was pretty much as it is now but the venue is situated in the woods with the crows calling & swans on the lake, otherwise very still and serene.

I’ve known Emma for years & used to work with her so I kind of had an idea what she liked and disliked & its on that basis that things work the way they do.  Very well.

I get used to speculative hits on my site and Facebook page asking first ‘how much’, but as much as price is a massive driver, one of the main things (if not the main thing) is do you get on with the photographer?

The only way to find out is by meeting up, I can only go so far by email, the rest will have to be done human to human:-)

I can go to any venue with any couple and capture photographs that you and I will be proud of, but knowing each other beforehand those images will speak far more & I don’t just mean the interaction between us, it’s more about letting you two be YOU and giving me the opportunity to show YOU as you are normally with each other.

Those will be the pictures you come back to time and again as you’ll know you felt at ease and had a blast when they were taken.

Emma & Paul are a classic example of that, because I knew them,  I could see when they were being themselves and when I needed to give them space to breathe.  Wedding days are about as intense as they come for two people that aren’t usually in the limelight, so as far as I’m concerned it’s ok to drop the camera and speak for a bit, if that makes people at ease and laugh, the rest will flow nicely.

If I had a pound for every time someone moaned about something about their wedding photographer, most of it avoidable and unnecessary if you iron it out beforehand.

So whoever you go with, know you like their work and take a bit of time to meet, that’s all it costs, time.
